-
Members
can purchase a variety of forestry publications at a
sizable discount through MFA, saving money and
increasing their knowledge. Each year, MFA adds one
or two new publications that we think would be
interesting for landowners. Members may also
qualify for discounts on automobile insurance or
other forestry products.
-
Members
are kept informed on issues that affect woodlands
and woodland owners in Massachusetts. MFA
regularly updates its members on proposed new laws
and regulations that may affect their land, and
advocates on its members’ behalf to have their
interests taken into account by policy makers.
-
Members
are kept informed of upcoming programs, workshops,
and Woods Walks which MFA sponsors each year around
Massachusetts. Attending a workshop is a way
to get more information about topics that can help
you manage your woodland. Each of MFA’s
Woods Walks or Tree Farm Tours provides the
opportunity to see how other landowners are caring
for their land and pick up ideas that may be useful
in managing your own land.
-
Members
can get help with questions or problems they have in
caring for their land. MFA provides its
members with help concerning property taxes on their
land, how to find and choose a forester, steps to
take when you have a timber harvest, and ways to
protect your land for the future. Each year,
MFA staffers find answers for members on a wide
variety of topics, ranging from tree identification
to coping with wildlife problems to finding help
with a tree health problem.
